The method used in calculating GFR from a single-sample has been described previously (Groth & Aasted, 1984). Standards were made for the determination of the injected dose of 51 Cr-EDTA . The 51 Cr-EDTA blood samples were counted in a well counter 3 days later to allow for sufficient decay of 99m Tc. All GFR results were expressed as ml min )1 .
51Cr-EDTA clearance was determined in 50 children from the activity in one plasma sample by means of two methods. The calculation of 51Cr-EDTA clearance by method I (ClI) was based on a transformation of the biexponential time-activity curve into a monoexponential with identical area below the time-activity curve.
The calculation of 51Cr-EDTA clearance by method II (ClII) was based on a close relation between 51Cr-EDTA clearance and the reciprocal apparent volume of distribution normalized with respect to body surface area. The calculation of 51 Cr‐EDTA clearance by method I (Cl I) was based on a transformation of the biexponential time‐activity curve into a monoexponential with identical area below the time‐activity curve. The calculation of 51 Cr‐EDTA clearance by method II (Cl II) was based on a close relation between 51 Cr‐EDTA clearance and the reciprocal apparent volume of distribution normalized with respect to body surface area. It was demonstrated that the two methods were closely related. that the 51Cr-EDTA clearance corresponds very closely with the inulin clearance when estimated by the standard infusion technique, quoting r values of 0.995 and 0.992, respectively. The renal handling of 51Cr-EDTA and inulin would therefore appear to be identical.
The results of the 51Cr-EDTA slope intercept clearance of the two blood sample method were used as reference. Using the paediatric BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: 51Cr EDTA clearance (CL) from plasma is used to estimate glomerular filtration rate (GFR). We propose that current methods for analysing the raw 51Cr EDTA measurements over-simplifies the disposition of 51Cr EDTA and therefore could produce biased GFR estimates. Individual GFR values from 51Cr-EDTA plasma clearance highly correlated with those from renal clearance (r2 = 0.977, P < 0.0001), but resulted on average about 2.5 mL.min-1.1.73 m-2 higher (66.8 +/- 6.5 mL.min-1.1.73 m-2 (mean +/- SE) versus 64.3 +/- 6.4, P < 0.02). The reliability of a determination of the total [51Cr]EDTA plasma clearance (E) (and with it the glomerular filtration rate), by a simplified single injection method (injected dose: 4.5 muCi per kg b.w.) using capillary blood samples (0.2 ml), was investigated in twenty children.
Multiple sample methodThe plasma clearance of 51 Cr-EDTA for the entire group of cats ranged between 0.4 and 8.7 ml/min/kg when normalised for body weight (mean AE SD, 3.7 AE 2.5 ml/min/kg).The mean AE SD for the normal cats yielded to 2.4 AE 1.3 ml/min/kg. The mean clearance value for the hyperthyroid cats AE SD was 4.3 AE 1.9 ml/min/kg.

Mean + 1.96 SD and mean − 1.96 SD are the upper and lower limits of the interval of agreement, respectively. Renal clearance of creatinine was significantly lower than renal clearance of iohexol (p = 0.0019) and 51Cr-EDTA (p = 0.0001). There were no significant differences between the renal clearances (Clren adv) of iohexol and 51Cr-EDTA or between their plasma clearances (ClAUC-3comp). 1998-05-01 IgAN regularly with 51Cr-EDTA clearance as an accurate method of GFR determination. As serum creatinine is a rough method for determination of renal function, it is of no value in differing between normal and slightly decreased GFR. An extensive survey of this subject has been presented by Brod (16].
It was demonstrated that the two methods were closely related.

AIMS: To investigate the agreement of glomerular filtration rate (GFR) determination between 51Cr-ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (51Cr-EDTA) plasma clearance (GFREDTA) and 99mTc-diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (99mTc-DTPA) plasma clearance (GFRDTPA), the Gates 99mTc-DTPA renographic method (GFRGates) and the serum creatinine Chronic Kidney Disease Epidemiology … 51 Cr‐EDTA clearance was measured with the standard bolus injection technique and glomerular filtration rate (GFR) was calculated by the single‐sample method described by Jacobsson. Mannitol, 0·25 g kg −1 body weight (150 mg ml −1 ), was infused for 4–14 min and blood samples taken at 1‐, 2‐, 3‐ and 4‐h ( n = 24) or 2‐, 3‐, 3·5‐ and 4‐h after infusion ( n = 17). AIM: The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of 51Cr-EDTA clearance to tailor the carboplatin dose in two different therapeutic regimens of advanced epithelial ovarian cancer. MATERIALS AND METHODS: 14 patients entered the study, eight treated by carboplatin (C) … The calculation of 51Cr-EDTA clearance by method I (ClI) was based on a transformation of the biexponential time-activity curve into a monoexponential with identical area below the time-activity curve. The calculation of 51Cr-EDTA clearance by method II (ClII) was based on a close relation between 51Cr-EDTA clearance and the reciprocal apparent volume of distribution normalized with respect to body … 2010-08-01 A method is described whereby the plasma clearance of 51 Cr‐EDTA is used to estimate the glomerular filtration rate (GFR) in conscious rats. EDTA clearance rates were calculated based on one and two exponential disappearance curves and compared in groups of animals studied under conditions of normal, high and low GFR. Patients with advanced epithelial ovarian cancer were treated with first-line carboplatin (AUC = 7, using the 51Cr EDTA [edetic acid] clearance method) and escalating doses of paclitaxel. Thrombocytopenia was mild and was significantly less when the paclitaxel dose was 175 mg/m2 versus 150 mg/m2.
